The PreOp-Guide was written in 1999 by Dr. Catania, while he was a resident in surgery at Brown University/Rhode Island Hospital. Dr. Catania noticed that many patients had the same questions and concerns, and that once these questions and concerns were addressed, they were much more comfortable about having surgery.
By developing a guide which explained the operative process from start to finish, including discussions about complications and outcomes, he wanted to take the mystery out of a process that affects millions of patients every year.
Since it's original publication, thousands of patients have benefited from the information and advice contained in The PreOp-Guide. The Guide has won praise from patients, nurses, and physicians alike. You may read The PreOp-Guide from cover to cover, or just browse the sections that interest you.
If you would like to take a copy to the hospital with you, simply download the guide from our easy to use web-server, and print the entire guide, or just print the sections that you would like to bring along.
